UPDATE - 5/11/2005: Changes to Playing with Fire concert series
There have been a few scheduling changes with the previously announced 'Playing with Fire' concert series:

Friday - August 12th will now feature Hadden Sayers who is replacing Ana Popovic
Saturday - August 13th will now include David Gogo who is replacing Joe Bonamassa. Sidenote: David was recently voted the Best Canadian Blues Guitarist 2005.

In addition, all Friday night shows scheduled for May through August will be moved to Downtown Blues on 15th & Howard.

Saturday night shows will remain at Lewis & Clark Landing on the riverfront.

Last year's FREE concert series on Omaha's riverfront proved to be very successful. It was so well-received in fact, that many of you have already inquired about the line-up for this year's shows.

The promoters for the 2nd Annual Playing with Fire concerts promise you won't be disappointed.

They have added two more shows than last year (a total of seven). Six Saturday shows and one 2005 Riverfront Playing With Fire concert series Sunday show will once again be held at Lewis and Clark Landing on the riverfront. In addition, there will be four Friday shows held on the banks of the Heartland of America Park, located just east of 10th and Farnam.

Admission is FREE to all shows. No coolers, food or dogs will be allowed in. You're welcome to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Reasonably priced concessions will be provided.

Here is the line-up for the 2005 Playing with Fire concerts. You may want to print this information for future reference. Start times for each concert will be announced at a later date and will appear on OmahaRiverFront.com's Event Calendar.

Comments from Readers

Well, it looks, and sounds (!), like I have my summer all planned!! Top notch live blues. Outdoors. FREE! In Omaha? Yeah, Omaha. Dig it - Xappa
div About Malford Milligan - Charlie Sexton and Doyle Bramhall Jr. did not play in Storyville. That was the Arc Angels. David Holt (The Mavricks) and David Grisom (John Cougar Mellencamp / Dixie Chicks) were in Storyville. Looking forward to the concert. - Mark Donovan, Drummer/Malford Milligan Band
div I attended all of the concerts last year. They were great ADULT entertainment. I believe CD-105's adverstising "bring your kids down, this is free entertainment for the family" will ruin this great avenue for the adult Blue's Fans in Omaha. Jazz on the Green has been ruined by all the kids that now attend. It used to be an Adult function. Children do NOT like Jazz or Blue's music. They get bored and just run around ruining it for the adults that came to listen to the music. If CD-105 is allowed to continue their current advertising, this is another great event that will be ruined. Last year was fantastic. There were no kids and there shouldn't be were alcohol is served. Please don't ruin the one event in Omaha that should be adult based. - Sue
div I just wanted to comment on the great time my friend and I had at the Sonny Landreth, Albert Cummings show. That is until DC Sheriff decided to ruin it for us. Not only were we left holding over 20 dollars in tickets without even so much as a explanation we were threatened to be taken to jail and assisted to the front gate. We have both been to every show except one and spent a lot of money on beer, food and merchandise. And had planned on seeing more and spending more. Im sure we are not the only ones that were stiffed that night. In closing I'll leave you with a quote from one of the river front concerts series VIPs (name withheld because he lacked the sack to give it to me) "Well I guess you should just buy them as you need them". - William Blake
div Always a great time, but when it rains why not finish it on Sunday? No one can control the rain so why not plan for it and continue concerts on Sunday? Keep having Great fun and great music. - Dennis Baldwin
div My 11 and 15 year old daughters and I were at the June 4th concert. Although rain shortened our stay, we really enjoyed ourselves and vowed to come to all remaining concerts. The bus ride from the Gallup Center was a very convenient. Our total spending was was $22.50 on a tee shirt, food and drinks. It has been so long since I heard live music, I forgot how good it is. We will be back, plus some friends. Thank you. - Mike and Family
div So do I understand correctly, in that all of the Riverfront Playing With Fire concert series, including all Friday night shows scheduled for May through August, that will be moved to Downtown Blues on 15th & Howard, are to be attended free of charge? - J.Clive
