World is coming to the Bluffs. The world's largest supplier of RV
accessories and camping equipment will be built on a 5-acre site
just east of South 24th Street between 27th Avenue and I-29/80 in
Council Bluffs.
The location is next to the newly built Bass Pro
Shop, giving the outdoor sports enthusiast just about everything
they need in one general area. Camping World, which has over 50
retail outlets, was established in 1966 by David Garvin in Bowling
Green, KY. Garvin opened his first store in an amusement park
owned by his father. He later expanded the business to also
include mail-order catalog and on-line purchase options. The
business was acquired by the Affinity Group, Inc. of Ventura, CA
in 1997. The Bluffs store will be about 20,000 square feet with
room for expansion. It is projected to cost around $5 million and
will employ between 30 and 50 people. Construction should start
around March with an expected opening in August. Camping World
is a current affiliate with OmahaRiverFront.com. You can check out
