fter
two years of speculation, plans to build a riverfront development
in Plattsmouth are closer to becoming reality.
With a blessing
from FEMA, the Plattsmouth
City Council unanimously approved rezoning, preliminary and final
plans for the
first phase of Castaway Pointe in April. This phase includes ten
$500,000 to $800,000 luxury homes that will be built on half-acre
waterfront lots. At least five of these lots have already been
sold for $150,000 each. Additional plans for the subdivision
include dockside villas, log cabin cottages and condominiums. These
will range in cost from $140,000 to $425,000. A foundation was
poured two weeks ago

for the first Villa and a 1521 sq. ft.
Bungalow is currently under construction. The 30 planned Bungalows
will be built either on the river or overlooking the tropical
themed swimming pool.Besides
housing, the development will include a 150 boat slip marina. The
marina, which was initially dug out by former owner of the
property Mark Morehead, will be expanded and made deeper to
accommodate the ever-changing water levels of the river. A gas
dock and convenience store will be located within the marina. The
first slips should be in the water by mid-July. Castaway Pointe
will be a sponsor of this year's Missouri River (Aquapalooza)
Poker Run and will be managing the stop at Dodge Park marina.
Participants will receive a Castaway Pointe Cup at this stop and
can bring it to Castaway Pointe on July 19th for a free Watermelon
Cocktail. This will be the publics first opportunity to see this
exclusive Residential Marina Development first hand. Future
plans call for commercial buildings, a boat sales and service
company and a sit-down restaurant and bar. For more information,
