June 24, 2008Plans for Plattsmouth marina moving forwardBy NANCY NEUROHRWith a blessing from FEMA, the Plattsmouth City Council unanimously approved rezoning, preliminary and final plans for the first phase of Castaway Pointe in April. This phase includes ten $500,000 to $800,000 luxury homes that will be built on half-acre waterfront lots. At least five of these lots have already been sold for $150,000 each. Additional plans for the subdivision include dockside villas, log cabin cottages and condominiums. These will range in cost from $140,000 to $425,000. A foundation was poured two weeks ago
Besides housing, the development will include a 150 boat slip marina. The marina, which was initially dug out by former owner of the property Mark Morehead, will be expanded and made deeper to accommodate the ever-changing water levels of the river. A gas dock and convenience store will be located within the marina. The first slips should be in the water by mid-July. Castaway Pointe will be a sponsor of this year's Missouri River (Aquapalooza) Poker Run and will be managing the stop at Dodge Park marina. Participants will receive a Castaway Pointe Cup at this stop and can bring it to Castaway Pointe on July 19th for a free Watermelon Cocktail. This will be the publics first opportunity to see this exclusive Residential Marina Development first hand. Future plans call for commercial buildings, a boat sales and service company and a sit-down restaurant and bar. For more information,
