he national commemoration of the Lewis and Clark 'Corps of Discovery' bicentennial will be launched early next year on January 18th, 2003 with commencement ceremonies at Monticello at Charlottesville, Virginia. OmahaRiverFront.com will participate by publishing our own series of informative Lewis and Clark articles. We will chronologically follow the Corps of Discovery as they
trekked up the Missouri River with historical and modern maps, journal entries and as much of a depiction as possible of their daily adventures and challenges.
|
American communities, from Charlottesville, VA, to Astoria, OR, have been selected by the National Council of the Lewis and Clark Bicentennial as sites for national heritage signature events during the bicentennial commemoration of the Lewis and Clark Expedition in 2003-2006. Each community was chosen for its place in the expedition’s chronology, its historical relevance, cultural diversity, tribal involvement, geographic location, and sponsoring organizations’ capacity. |
